About the project

The ‘IDEA TARNÓW’ project is implemented with funds from the Second Edition of Swiss Financial Assistance and the state budget, as part of the Polish-Swiss Urban Development Programme, which supports reducing economic and social disparities in the EU. The Programme Operator is the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy.

‘IDEA Tarnów’ is a multi-dimensional initiative that includes twelve complementary activities. These activities are interconnected, maintaining complementarity and a synergy effect, thanks to which the final results of the project will be significantly greater than the sum of the effects of individual actions.

We expect that, thanks to the coherence and complementarity of its actions, the ‘IDEA Tarnów’ project will provide Tarnów residents with modern infrastructure, a higher level of safety, better educational and professional opportunities, and a friendly urban space. The relationships between the activities show how an integrated approach can improve the quality of life while building a solid foundation for sustainable urban development. We hope that by implementing the project’s objectives, Tarnów will become a place where residents feel good, are active and engaged in community life, and the city develops sustainably.

The project focuses on key areas of urban functioning, including education and economy. It assumes the development of residents’ competencies within the ‘Building Tarnów Residents’ Competencies’ activity, support for local entrepreneurship through the ‘Business for Generations – EKOTARnów’ program, and strengthening and expanding the educational and social offerings of the ‘Municipal Talent Palace’. Safety is enhanced by the ‘Safe Tarnów’ and ‘Local Government Digital Security Center’ activities, while the quality of life is improved by lighting modernization and the implementation of SmartCity solutions.

In the area of mobility, the project supports sustainable transport, TAXI HELP, and the modernization of Lwowska Street, improving communication accessibility and social integration for seniors and people with disabilities. In the environmental sphere, activities include park revitalization, green space management, and a rainwater drainage system, increasing biodiversity and urban safety.

The project also supports civil society by strengthening NGOs, activities for children and youth in foster care, and includes, among other things, the development of a pro-youth policy.

Thanks to its comprehensive approach, ‘IDEA Tarnów’ combines education, technology, infrastructure, ecology, and social integration, creating a modern city where residents have a real impact on its development and quality of life.

The total project budget is PLN 89,971,355.48, and the co-financing value is PLN 80,722,303.45

The interconnections, complementarity, and synergy effect of the activities will ensure that the final project results will be greater than the sum of the effects of individual actions. For example, educational activities support the development of skills needed in the labor market, which in turn drives the local economy. At the same time, better transport and ecological infrastructure improve the quality of life for residents, increasing the city’s attractiveness as a place to work and live.

The project will provide Tarnów residents with modern infrastructure, a higher level of safety, better educational and professional opportunities, and a friendly urban space that responds to the challenges of climate change.
