Lwowska Nears the Finish Line of Its Transformation – Reconstruction Set to Begin Before Summer Holidays
The final section of Lwowska Street will undergo a major reconstruction. The agreement signed in april with the contractor launched the project, which will transform one of Tarnów’s key exits – from St. Luke’s Hospital to the city limits. Not only will a new road surface be constructed, but also safer intersections, improved traffic flow, and comfortable conditions for pedestrians and cyclists. The entire contract is valued at PLN 23.5 million, with the majority of funding coming from the Polish-Swiss Cooperation Program.
– By the end of this year, we will complete the renovation of the section of Lwowska Street currently being modernized. Next year, the cherry on the cake will be the completion of the reconstruction of the entrance to the city, for which we are signing the contract today – explains President Jakub Kwaśny.
Impediments
The contractor is obligated to ensure full traffic flow and access to the nearby hospital. The temporary traffic management will be announced in may, but it is already known that it will be two-way.
What will change?
– We’ll be replacing the entire road structure, correcting the gradeline near the Teachers’ Housing Estate, building additional collector lanes, and rebuilding all intersections along the way. These are deep excavations, and there will be a lot to do – said the contractor, Eurovia director Marek Kaczmarczyk.
Additionally, bus bays will be constructed, along with modern bus shelters and traffic lights. A designated pedestrian and cyclist path will also be created, something that wasn’t there before, allowing for safe and comfortable travel regardless of vehicle traffic.
Additionally, as part of the project, an Intelligent Transport System (ITS) will be implemented, including the installation of dynamic passenger information boards.
When will the renovation begin?
The contractor has 16 months to complete the project. Preparatory work will begin in late May, with the main work scheduled for completion before the summer holidays.
